Yes! You have heard it right! Today Microsoft has announced the much awaiting Release date of Windows 7. It has finally been fixed and the lucky date is October 22nd, 2009. So from October 22nd onwards, Windows 7 will be available in stores…
Obviously this has been much awaiting news for all Windows 7 lover. As we have seen previously, Win7 has gained some huge positive feedbacks from its very first beta release to the current RC! No doubt, the release date is sure to shake the market a little bit[Not that little bit]
To know some insiders please read on below!
Some Flash Backs and related News:
As previously, @ greenTechspot we have discussed about the release date of Windows 7, which was supposed to be October 23rd. Well, it was not at all a bad guess isn’t it! Also there has been indication from windowsteamblog that Win7 will be ready in time for the holidays. Yes indeed! It is ready and also on exactly October 22nd, a day before our assumptions.
Anyways, this is indeed a big news for all Windows 7 lovers like me! And if you ask for reaction from Windows Team Blog official Bradon LeBlanc then,
“Our milestone-to-milestone approach for Windows 7 is built on a great deal of feedback from customers and testers. This has been pivotal to the development of Windows 7.”
Which clearly states the excitement behind his writings.
Also, Microsoft says that the Release To Manufacturing (RTM} will be ready by July, 15th. According to LeBlanc
“Obviously, Release To Manufacturing (RTM) is an important milestone on the path to GA. We anticipate that we’ll be able to make the RTM code for Windows 7 available to our partners sometime in the 2nd half of July”
Upgradation Option:
Previously there has been many news that Original Vista Users will get Windows 7 upgrade for free! Although there is no such clear indication from MS, but there is something in LeBlanc’s writing which can catch our attention:
“Some people may not be able to wait for Windows 7 to arrive before having to order a new PC (like parents who are sending their sons or daughters off to school who need of a PC to take with them). Fortunately, there is no need to wait. Soon, customers will be able to take advantage of the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program. This program enables participating retailers and OEMs to offer a special deal to upgrade to Windows 7 for customers purchasing a qualifying PC. I’ll be doing another blog post about this program with a date and more details when we get closer to availability.”
So, it means MS is going to have some attractive offer for some brand users. Rest have to buy Win7 separately!
What ever it is, the date 22nd October is surely a milestone in Windows OS family! If we just check some previous feedbacks, then after Windows XP, Windows 7 is the best OS from MS so far! So, lets wait for October 22nd and till then lets enjoy Windows 7 RC (which you can get from here)…
