Multiple Search Feature Comes to Google Maps

Google has added a new feature to Google Maps, which allows you to perform multiple searches, while keeping them around for future reference. It’s hard to explain without an example .It lets you conduct multiple searches within one search for directions. 12845v5-max-150x150

This feature lets you add visual layers to a particular map as you add more search parameters. So let’s say you are searching for a particular route to get from one destination to another. You can now search for several restaurants and bars within that route.

As you conduct multiple searches, you’ll see a blue bar at the bottom of the left side of the Maps page. You can click on it to expand the widget, which will list the searches that you have made. You can also turn searches on or off by clicking on the box to the side of each search. And each search is color coded, so you know which is which.

What’s here option is another useful option that Google maps added. If you right-click somewhere on the map, it will bring up a menu with a bunch of options. The new last option allows you to select “What’s here?” And if Google knows — which it does for a lot of places — it will pop up information about what is actually at the location you’re pointing at. If it knows the name of say, a store that is there, it will give that to you. Otherwise, it will give you the address of where you are pointing.

The good thing about the multiple search feature is that once you search in a particular location, the following searches will pertain to that location. For example, if you searched Hana first, you would then simply be able to just search for “supermarkets” to get listings for supermarkets in the area.

Consider another scenario, where you want to meet a friend for dinner on your way to downtown San Francisco. You search for transit directions from where you are on 24th and Valencia to Downtown SF, and then search for two of your favorite restaurants, Bar Jules and Walzwerk. Clicking on the blue bar at the bottom of the left panel reveals both searches for the restaurants as well as your route downtown. You can click on the checkboxes to turn each search on and off.

I am asking it because ,i have a page with more than 150 comments ..so people are hesitant to go to the bottom and comment ….and the non blogger users think that they have to have a blogger pofile to comment….thx in advance..it will be a nice and easy one…

For installing intensedebate commenting system you can read this post on bloggerbuster. Also you may install Disqus or JSKit . As you have huge comments already I shall recommend you to install JSKit or Disqus. I installed IntenseDebate because I like its style. Whereas in Disqus you will get social networking comments also like twitter/digg etc and for JSkit you can synchronize your Comments with your blogger.com comments. So choose the one that suits you the best! Also do let us know what you have preferred and why 🙂
